Powerdynamo CDI Ignition-12v/150W
Magnet based generator with integrated ignition. Output at 12V/150W DC. Solid state ignition with own power supply from within the system. Replaces old dynamo, regulator and ignition coils. No changes on engine casing needed. The system is technically capable of running without battery. Fitting air-cooled Yamaha RD (RD250/350/400, DS6/7, R5) and (early) liquid cooled TZ250.

Powerdynamo Rotor Keyway service

The Powerdynamo comes without a keyway and relies on lock tight and the bolt to prevent slipping. we have had the rotors slip and throw off the timing so we built some tooling to install a keyway to take care of the problem.

 CDI Ignition-12v/150W relay & mounting kit for the Powerdynamo ignition

The Powerdynamo ignition is a great addition to any R5 or RD but the kit does not include some very important  needs for the vintage Yamaha 2-stroke twins.

We have came up with a kit that helps with the mounting, installation, and adaptability to the bikes.

Our kit includes

  • Additional instructions on where and how to mount the coils and CDI box

  • Hardware

  • More pictures

  • A 12volt relay so the ignition switch and kill switch can be used.

  • More wire diagrams.

Powerdynamo CDI Race Ignition-No lights
High-speed (up to 22.000rpm) magnet based solid state ignition for vintage bike racing applications. At 18.000rpm (i.e. 36.000 sparks/min) still 25 Kilovolts output. (3.000-8.000rpm = 40kV).
Diameter of rotor is 59mm, rotor weight is 180 grams. 
Replaces such systems as Motoplat, Hitachi, Fensatronic and Kröber. 
Note: no facility for lighting provided!!
No lights - no use on public roads! (consult national regulations)
